Welcome
About me
I am Emily King, a graduate student in Exhibition and Experience Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology, drawing from a rich and multidisciplinary background. With an undergraduate foundation in architecture, planning, and preservation, I explored diverse design disciplines such as creative placemaking, product design, urban planning, landscape architecture, and creative writing. These experiences have shaped my belief in the transformative power of design to evoke emotion, provoke thought, and inspire meaningful change.
Rooted in the belief that design has the power to address societal needs, my approach focuses on creating innovative and user-centric solutions. I balance aesthetics with functionality, ensuring my work is not only impactful but also sustainable. For me, design transcends the act of creation; it is a medium for making a difference—a reflection of humanity’s stories and an opportunity to spark dialogue and action on global issues.
My philosophy of design is deeply influenced by the idea that art and storytelling serve as mirrors to the human experience. I believe that stories are the threads that connect us, and design is the fabric where these threads come to life. I strive to craft immersive narratives that resonate deeply with audiences, encouraging them to engage, reflect, and reimagine the world around them.
Looking ahead, I am committed to fostering collaboration and inclusivity in my work. I continuously adapt and learn to ensure my designs remain relevant and meaningful. Whether through creating spaces that tell compelling stories or designing experiences that challenge perspectives, I strive to leave a lasting impact, reminding us that design is not just about what we make—it’s about the difference we make.
